Notes for Chapter One

Chapter One starts on page 4
A full year is twelve whole months - seams odd to point out
Double check nothing was skipped there would be test
the journey itself would be a treasure hunt
List continents Africa, Antartica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Australia - listen alphabetically except the last Australia
Special History Books gets it’s first mention All caps
Mentioned they would focus on a small area and return later to the Real World - may be an indication of future adventures and treasure hunts.
Land of Candy Capitalized always
Old Chocolate River Capitalized
Talk about his packing for trip - clothes and such
and things vital for Journey - Notebooks pens and pencils, cream and brown sugar and peppermint chunks, band aids in case there were any accidents while they were out, a map of the United States
Colors are mentioned in groupings in this book a lot - I think I will just call them out as they come
Colors - Pink, Orange and Yellow
Mentions Candyman had been to Real World long ago - possibly like when he was a child and lived in New York?
There are many italicized words and partial words in book I call them out in another post.
The Special History Book was purchased and would be a surprise to the Candyman - possibly this book and treasure hunt location will also be a surprise for him.

The first illustration on page 10 was of The Garden of the Lollies - the Candyman liked to see the reflections inside the lollies

Candyman mentions they are going on a Mammoth Treasure Hunt. every time they solve a clue a new one will appear
Minty mention Special History Books were rare. The Special History Book had many uses for this trip.
Candyman started it out by writing “PLEASE MAKE US A TREASURE HUNT”
Not only that, but The Candyman was certain that they would be able to use the Special History Book later on, too!

Sprinkle City is the capitol of the Land of Candy
Sandy Candy one of Candyman’s students was very concerned about timed being punctual - could be we need to be some place at a specific time.
Candyman was heading to the Old Chocolate River at the center of the park (name not given)
Sandy Candy said they would meet at eight o’clock, the Candyman was always on time sine hw used time magic.

They waited for Doodle Dog and Witty Kitty Candyman’s other students

the Candyman had been a teacher for nearly a hundred years and taken 7 trips to the Real World
Candyman says that they would need to get at least one night at an inn somewhere
Candyman knocks on door 3 times to open leading to the Between Hall and another door to the Real World
